Hello friends! Welcome back to guest check. Last week, we chatted about making your apartment feel like home with the right decor and cozy touches. If you missed it, be sure to check out Bringing Hotel Luxury to Your NYC Apartment, for all my styling tips and must-have home pieces.
This week, we’re focusing on how to reset for the week with a simple cleaning routine. I truly believe in the saying, ‘clean space, clear mind’ — what good is a cozy apartment if it’s never tidy? As always, don’t forget to subscribe below! Grab your coffee (or martini) and let’s get into it.
My Cleaning Schedule
I wouldn’t exactly call myself a member of CleanTok (although I do love filming cleaning videos — they’re SO satisfying), and there’s definitely a lot I still don’t know about deep cleaning. But overall, I would consider myself a clean and organized person. A messy apartment honestly gives me so much anxiety — I’ll admit I have a corner with stacked PR packages and a closet in desperate need of a spring cleaning (I’m tempted to hire a professional organizer, lol). But other than that, my apartment stays clean, and I’m proud of it.
Here’s my daily and weekly cleaning schedule so you can keep your space clean too:
Daily Cleaning Routine:
Morning:
Make the bed (sets a productive tone for the day)
Evening aka ‘The Closing Shift’:
Rinse dishes and load the dishwasher
Wipe down kitchen counters
Clear any clutter from the kitchen and living room
Take out any trash and boxes
Fluff pillows/couch and fold throw blankets
Put things away in the right place (bags, shoes, clothes, etc.)
Weekly Cleaning Routine:
Mid-Week:
Do a load of laundry (clothes)
Run dishwasher and unload dishes
Vacuum entire apartment and sweep floors, if necessary
Dust surfaces (coffee/bedside table, TV console, etc.)
Wipe down mirrors/glass surfaces and clean windows
Clean bathroom (scrub toilet, shower and sink)
Sunday:
Do a load of laundry (sheets, towels)
Change bed linens
Clean fridge prior to grocery shopping (throw out expired food, wipe down shelves)
Run dishwasher and unload dishes
Tidy up areas that tend to collect clutter
I used to save all my cleaning for a huge Sunday Reset, but I’ve found that staying on top of small tasks throughout the week has made a huge difference. I try and clean up any mess I make immediately, and sticking to this routine daily has made keeping my apartment tidy so much easier. It’s less stressful, more manageable, and I hope you guys found these tips helpful.
Essential Cleaning Products
Now that you’ve got your routine down, let’s talk about my go-to cleaning products. You’ve probably seen them in every cleaning video I’ve posted so here they are:
My Walmart Vacuum (is it time for a cordless Dyson vacuum?!)
What’s Happening This Week
(2/24-3/2)
At the end of each newsletter, I’ll share a curated list of the best events happening in New York City that I think you’ll love. If you check any of them out, let me know!
Keeping it short and sweet this week — thank you for being here! Let me know your thoughts and what you’d love to see in future newsletters. Love you all 💌
